Introduction

Monday, August 23, 2010

Yesterday I officially decided I would take steps to once and for all reach my goal of being a healthier me.

Sometimes you read that it's good to have a goal weight. Sometimes you read that it's good to have a goal SIZE. Sometimes you hear that you should just focus on health and not numbers, because it is possible to be in good health and have extra weight.

Last semester I reached my all time high weight of 293 pounds. I managed to lose 20 pounds before I fell off the wagon and gave in to a summer of sweet tea and ice cream whenever I wanted it. Also, I managed to get an awful case of bronchitis during the summer so my lungs didn't like it when I put forth any extra effort for anything, so exercise took a break too.

On August 22, I decided I had had enough of the excuses and the laziness and the contentment to be "fat and fabulous." I am not happy with my body, and I do not feel that I am in good enough health to live a long and happy and productive life, especially when it comes time to have children.

My goal weight is 180 pounds.

I will use this blog to post my weight, daily food and drink intake, and workout.

As far as nutrition goes, I will follow the Food Pyramid's nutrition guide to plan out intake of vegetables, fruits, grains, proteins, and dairy.
